As a Child Care Worker with Educational Leader responsibilities, your role will be to work collaboratively in supporting the Centre Director and the team to ensure the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate care and educational programs which meet the developmental needs of individual children, and the care and education needs of their families and the community.

Task & responsibilities
- Mentoring and supporting educators’ understanding of educational program and practice, such as:
- how theory supports best practice in all parts of the program
- building relationships and interactions with children to assist their learning through play and leisure-based programs.
- intentional teaching strategies and thoughtful, deliberate educator practices that support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.
- routines and transitions
- providing for continuity of learning when children transition to, from or within the service
- developing documentation that is meaningful, relevant and promotes reflection on educators’ pedagogy and practice.
- mentoring and supporting the EL-in-training
- drawing on a range of understandings about learning theories and styles, as well as educators’ strengths, to develop educators’ professional skills and confidence.
- encouraging and empowering educators to draw on their creativity, intuition, knowledge of child development, as well as children’s knowledge, identity and culture in their teaching and planning for learning.
- liaising with other early childhood education and care professionals (such as therapists, maternal and child health nurses, and early childhood intervention specialists)
- assisting educators to make connections in the community, including with diverse cultures and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Elders or their representatives.
- assisting in the identifying and development of professional goals for individual educators
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs aligned with the EYLF and National Quality Standards (NQS)
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of materials and equipment for educational and recreational activities
- Monitor and support children's physical, emotional, and social development, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
- Actively supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, excursions, and daily routines
- Encourage and guide children's positive behaviour and social interactions using appropriate behaviour management strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation of children’s learning, development, observations, and individual plans
- Support children’s hygiene practices including toileting, feeding, and personal care routines
- Foster open and respectful communication with families and maintain strong relationships with the parent community
- Collaborate with fellow educators and management to implement the centre’s philosophy and continuous improvement goals
- Mentor and support assistant educators and trainees within the room, promoting professional growth and reflective practices
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
Qualification & experience
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and qualified room leader who is committed to providing high-quality childcare.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- At least 12 months of relevant full-time experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working as a Room Leader or in a leadership capacity (desirable but not essential)
- Sound knowledge of the EYLF, NQS, and child development principles
- Current First Aid Certificate including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
- Valid Working with Children Check (NSW)
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
