Sneddon & Kingston Plastics, a third-generation family-owned business with over 75 years of expertise in plastic injection moulding, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance operations at our Preston facility. We specialize in delivering high-quality, custom-moulded products across various industries, including automotive, medical, food packaging, and construction.

About the Role

As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities, ensuring the optimal performance of our injection moulding machinery and equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a proactive individual with a strong technical background and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment

  • Lead and manage the maintenance team, including training and performance evaluations

  • Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns or issues in a timely and efficient manner

  • Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations

  • Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers for timely procurement

  • Ensure compliance with OHS regulations and company safety policies

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection moulding

  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

  • Effective communication and team management abilities

  • Relevant trade qualifications (mechanical fitter, electrical, toolmaker, or similar)

  • Forklift licence and understanding of HACCP requirements are advantageous

  • Exposure to toolmaking processes or experience working with mould tooling will be highly regarded
