About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance / Handyperson to join our team at the Matthew Flinders Hotel in Chadstone, VIC. As a casual employee, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's facilities and ensuring the premises are well-kept and in good working order. This is a key role that contributes to the overall guest experience and the smooth operation of our venue & grounds.

What you'll be doing

Perform general maintenance and repair tasks such as fixing plumbing issues, electrical work, painting, and carpentry
Carry out regular inspections of the hotel's facilities and grounds, identifying and addressing any issues in a timely manner
Assist with set-up and packdown of events and functions held at the Hotel
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant safety standards and regulations
Collaborate with the hotel management team to develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies
Provide support to the housekeeping and cleaning teams as needed

What we're looking for

Previous experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, ideally in the hospitality industry
Strong practical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of maintenance-related issues
Working knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry principles
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with hotel staff and guests
