The opportunity:

We currently have an opportunity available for an Apprentice Electronics Technician to join our Townsville team on a full-time basis.

This role is suited to an individual who wants to work with their hands but also wants to be intellectually challenged. 

The Role - Intellectual 

Installation, maintaining, diagnosing / fault finding and repair of an array of electronic weighing apparatus and systems. 

These include loadcells, strain gauges, power supplies and other hardware. Along with Serial RS232, RS485, Current Loop, 4-20mA & ethernet communications. Control wiring, switching and I/O. 

The Role - Hands on

Most work is done at our customer's sites, we supply, repair, service and test weighing and inspection equipment including but not limited to weighbridges, metal detectors, batch plant scales, health scales, food processing plants and general manufacturing.   it will be something different and somewhere different almost every day. 

You will receive specific skill set training that will open the door to a career in the weighing industry that is varied, challenging, interesting and full of opportunities for advancement.

Established in 1979, Sensortronic Weighing and Inspection is a Queensland company that provides service, testing, calibration and repair of weighing and inspection equipment. We provide a niche service that is instrumental to the function of a large variety of industries. 

We are a small business with four branches throughout Qld.  We service all of Qld and also Northern NSW and the NT.  

We operate in Quarrys, Cement Plants, all forms of Manufacturing, the Food Industry, the Medical/Health industries, Logistics and Agriculture plus others. Scales are everywhere, across all industries.

Our Responsibilities to you: 

  • Create an environment where training is interactive and rewarding.
  • Provide training that gives you technical skills in high quality service, repair, testing and calibration of weighing and inspection equipment.
  • Train you to a level that allows for opportunity of advancement.
  • Provide WHS training as part of your employment.

   

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be engaged in your training.
  • Be prepared to travel throughout Qld.
  • Attend TAFE for course blocks.   
  • Training and working in the field at a range of different sites for various industries
  • Flexing your technical skills to fault-find and problem-solve
  • Diagnosis and repair of weighing and inspection equipment
  • Installation and commissioning of equipment for use
  • Testing and trade verification of weighing and inspection equipment

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 20kg weights easily is critical.
  • Prior experience in electronics is helpful but not a requirement.
  • Manual driving licence.  
  • Willingness to sometimes work away for up to a week or more.  
  • Able to work under direct supervision and autonomously. 
  • Eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Good communication skills & ability to take instructions.
  • Keen time management & organisational skills.
  • Focus on building skills for a long-term career.
