About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at AutoPacific Group. In this role, you will design, develop, and test automotive products, ensuring they meet industry standards and project specifications.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while mentoring and developing team members. You will also assist with project management and process improvements across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Use CAD to design and develop new products, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with AS1100 standards.
Conduct FEA simulations and performance tests to refine and optimize designs for safety, performance, and compliance.
Oversee the development of prototypes, making iterative improvements based on test data.
Work closely with the manufacturing team to provide advice and ensure smooth production processes.
Plan and manage product development projects, ensuring specifications and deadlines are met.
Contribute to process improvements, internal audits, and the maintenance of project management and drafting tools.
Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and participate in safety management programs.
About You:
Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering (mandatory), with a Heavy Vehicle Licence and knowledge of ADAS systems desirable).
Extensive experience in automotive design and engineering, with experience in frontal protection systems.
Sheet metal experience essential.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and FEA, with strong drafting and mechanical design fundamentals.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, AS1100 drafting standards, and relevant Australian Standards, legislation, and ADRs.
Experience mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
High adaptability to meet shifting project demands and continuous improvement initiatives.
