Gardener

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Gardener to join our passionate team at the Smithfield Village Early Learning Centre in Trinity Park, QLD. This is a part-time role, offering the flexibility to balance work and personal commitments. As our Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining the beautiful landscaping and grounds surrounding our early learning centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and visually appealing environment for our children, families, and staff.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out regular gardening and grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and planting
• Ensuring the gardens, pathways, and outdoor play areas are well-maintained and safe for children to use
• Assisting with the setup and pack-up of outdoor equipment and resources
• Identifying and addressing any health and safety concerns in the outdoor environment
• Collaborating with the early learning team to support special events and activities in the outdoor spaces
• Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a similar gardening/grounds keeping role, preferably within an early learning or educational setting
• Knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance best practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends, to accommodate the needs of the centre
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
