About the Role:   

Due to an increase in project and service opportunities, Becker Mining Australia is currently seeking a positive and enthusiastic qualified Senior Communications Technician/Technical Co-Ordinator to join our Newcastle communications team based in Thornton NSW and support our current and future clients and suppliers. 

The successful candidate will take an interest in and enjoy working with a broad cross section of technology products and services. You will be proficient at communicating with clients, taking ownership of issues reported and a capable problem solver to meet or exceed customer expectations. The role will include project and small build co-ordination with the help of the operations manager, you will also coordinate engagement with existing and new clients and maintain strong customer relations. This position requires some local and state travel to meet the requirements of the position.

You will need to have strong knowledge in RF and Electronics. 

 

What We’re Looking For:  

It is essential that all candidates have prior experience working as a technician within either two-way radio technology or a related field. You must also have experience and the ability to perform work in underground mine sites. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • An Electronic or Communication trade qualification i.e. Cert III – Electronics related field, or 5+ years relevant experience in communications systems, fault diagnosis and maintenance;
  • Experienced in site-based repairs associated with Communication Technician or Electronics Technician;
  • Experience with or understanding of radio communications, industrial networking and/or microwave would be beneficial; 
  • A willingness to learn current and new technology-based products and services;
  • Demonstrated effective communication, organisation and attention to detail skills;
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills and ability to take ownership of tasks;
  • Current Driver’s Licence;
  • Ability to obtain a police clearance and pre-employment medical.
