THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time position will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and gardens at Rosehill Gardens racecourse ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition. While predominately based at Rosehill Gardens racecourse, the Groundsperson, grade 1A or 2A may be rostered to perform work on occasion at any of the four (4) Club sites – Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury Park, Warwick Farm Racecourses.

DAY TO DAY, THE ROLE WILL:

  • Undertake general maintenance work including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions
  • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operations
  • Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfaces

THE RIGHT FIT

To be successful in the role, the right fit will have the following experience and capability:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in horticulture;
  • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills;
  • Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts (as applicable);
  • Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable;
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals;
  • A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills
